Who we are
About US
The Wattle Project is a grassroots initiative working to break the silence around eating disorders in rural, regional, and remote Australia. Born from lived experience, we understand the deep isolation and lack of local resources facing these communities.
Through education, advocacy, and connection, we empower parents, schools, health professionals, and community members to better recognise, support, and respond to eating disorders—so no one has to suffer alone.
Together, we’re creating stronger, more supportive communities one conversation at a time.
What We Do
Services
Educational Workshops
The Wattle Project offers free community workshops across rural Australia that provide practical education on eating disorders, body image, and mental health. Designed for parents, schools, community groups, and health professionals, these workshops create safe spaces to learn, ask questions, and build stronger, more supportive communities.
Advocacy & Rural Outreach
The Wattle Project advocates for better access to eating disorder and mental health support in rural Australia. We elevate lived experience voices, push for systemic change, and work alongside communities, health services, and policymakers to ensure every rural Australian gets the care and understanding they deserve.
Community Awareness
The Wattle Project leads community awareness efforts across rural Australia to break the stigma around eating disorders and body image issues. Through campaigns, storytelling, and local engagement, we spark open conversations and empower communities with the knowledge to recognise the signs, support one another, and seek help early.
